The project identifies common interests among the partner countries and promotes cooperation and a common understanding among producer countries for improved sustainability in the sector. To this end, the project networks decision-makers and change agents with the aim of supporting the implementation of measures in selected priority areas in the partner countries. In close cooperation with bilateral projects, the project brings the knowledge gained from successful local approaches to the region. In the context of German development cooperation in the Asian textile sector, the regional project thus enables successful bilateral approaches to have a greater broad impact at regional level. In strategic cooperation with global initiatives of German development cooperation, especially the German Partnership for Sustainable Textiles, or in short Textile Partnership (Textilbündnis) and the Green Button (Grüner Knopf), a joint positioning of the actors regarding the requirements of sustainable production is promoted. The requirements the German government has set with the introduction of the Green Button, the first government label for sustainably produced garments is used as an orientation for the project implementation.

Chemical Management Accelerator – SMART Myanmar

Training of Trainers and Enterprises on Chemical Management for the Chemical Management Accelerator program by GIZ FABRIC Asia and sequa gGmbH SMART Myanmar Project under EU Switch Asia project. Aspart of a two-member team of international master trainers on chemicals management, 08 local trainers are being trained to lead the chemical management activities in Myanmar.
The project is supporting 08 companies in Textile and Footwear sectors in Yangon and Bago in implementing chemical management system in conformance to Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) and Higg Intex by Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC).
Partnership for Cleaner Textile – PaCT Pakistan

Espire Consult is hired by the IFC to organize and supervise the Cleaner Production Assessments at the textile suppliers of global brands like LS&Co, GAP, VF Corp. etc. under the global agreements of IFC with these brands. The assessments focus on optimizing the energy, water and chemical use in the textile companies and develop culture of Resource Efficient Management.
21 commpanies are improving their resource efficiency, adopting renewable energy and improving management systems to incorporate Cleaner Production in strategic goals.
Espire shall also support IFC in conducting the Market Segmentation Study in Textile Sector, Conduct Workshops and Trainings, and Business Development activities.

Promote Private Sector Involvement in TVET Sector in Pakistan

Mr. Muhammad Salman Butt; Executive Director of Espire Consult; supported GIZ TVET Sector Support Programme in promoting private sector involvement in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector of Pakistan. Business and industry associations of various industrial sectors were taken on board for Planning, Development, Delivery and Assessment of Competency Based Trainings (CBT) in Punjab. More than 50 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) were signed between private sector companies and TVET institutes to facilitate On-the-job Training and Employment of TVET graduates.
Develop Business Plan for Sustainable Production Center (SPC)

Espire Consult developed the business plan of Sustainable Production Center (SPC); a Public Non-profit organization to be developed under the Federal Ministry of Commerce and Textile, Pakistan. The SPC shall be jointly managed by 05 major associations of Textile industry i.e. APTMA, PHMA, PRGMEA, PTEA, APTPMA. The Center shall provide technical skills to textile industry in the areas of Sustainable Production to enable the industry to meet the requirements of buyers and increase resource efficiency and productivity.
A detailed business plan was developed using the 9-block business model canvas as promoted by the German Ministry for Economy and Energy.
Energy Audit of Darussalam Quran Printing Complex, Pakistan

A comprehensive Level-II energy audit was conducted at the Quran Printing Complex of Darussalam Publishers in Pakistan. Energy saving opportunities were identified in all significant energy uses. A comprehensive energy management action plan was developed and approved by the top management.
Energy Audit at Nishat Chunian Dyeing & Printing Mills, Pakistan

An Investment Grade (Level-III) Energy Audit was conducted at Nishat Chunian Dyeing, Finishing and Home Textile divisions; sub-contracted by SBS Pakistan. Company has reported significant energy savings after implementation of the comprehensive action plan which was developed after the audit. Company team was trained on Implementing Energy Management System (ISO 50001).
Facility team was provided guidance and support in fulfilling compliance requirements of the international buyers as well.
Sectoral Study of 05 Industrial Sectors in Pakistan on Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy

Developed self-assessment tools and energy efficiency calculators for dissemination to industry and conducted trainings on the developed tools in universities.
