Details
The GIZ Green Growth Palestine programme strengthens the environmental governance, resource efficiency and organisational systems of 75 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. It applies the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production methodology to assess enterprise capacities, identify resource-efficiency opportunities and compliance risks, and develop prioritised corrective action plans. Participating enterprises are organised into environmental-management-system and green-product-development cohorts. The programme supports 50 enterprises in establishing environmental management systems, prepares 10 enterprises for third-party sustainability certification, and identifies needs and opportunities relating to green finance and green-product development.
- Espire’s Key Expert provides technical leadership and quality assurance for a pool of six international experts working with national experts. Espire leads structured environmental, institutional and resource-efficiency diagnostics across 75 MSMEs, covering organisational capacity, operational inefficiencies, environmental compliance risks, internal controls and priority interventions. Assessment findings are translated into enterprise-specific corrective action plans and used to assign participating enterprises to the appropriate implementation cohort.
- Espire supports 50 enterprises in developing environmental management systems, including responsibilities, operational controls, documentation, performance indicators, monitoring routines and continuous-improvement arrangements. It guides 10 selected enterprises through certification-readiness activities, including institutional gap assessment, documentation development, internal-control strengthening and corrective action planning; this does not imply that certification has already been awarded. Espire also assesses green-finance and green-product-development opportunities, linking resource-efficiency findings with enterprise investment needs, management capacity and sustainability-transition priorities. Developing bankable green financing proposals for 8 companies directly and supporting developing the proposals for 62 companies.
