Details
The WWF-Pakistan assignment assessed chemical-management practices in five textile and leather enterprises: Arzoo Textile Limited, Kamal Textile Mills (Pvt.) Ltd., Magna Textile (Pvt.) Limited, Shafi (Pvt.) Ltd. (Apparel Division), and Sheikh of Sialkot. It established enterprise-level baselines covering the chemical-management lifecycle, from procurement and storage to handling, use and disposal. The assignment combined baseline assessment, identification of chemical-reduction and management opportunities, corrective action planning, need-based workforce training and post-assessment verification.
Espire conducted comprehensive chemical baseline assessments covering each enterprise’s chemical procurement, inventory and storage arrangements, workplace handling and use practices, and disposal processes. The assessments identified management gaps, operational risks and opportunities to reduce chemical consumption while strengthening chemical safety and environmental performance. Based on the findings, Espire prepared enterprise-specific chemical-management action plans setting out priority corrective and improvement measures. The team also conducted needs assessments and developed tailored training modules and programmes to strengthen workforce capability for sustained implementation. Post-assessments were subsequently undertaken to review implementation progress and measure resulting improvements. This created a structured assessment-to-action cycle linking baseline evidence, reduction opportunities, workforce capacity development, implementation monitoring and performance review.
